Why the proof matters here

A Sudoku with two valid solutions is the page a reader notices: they finish the grid, turn to the answer key, and find their correct grid marked wrong. A Sudoku that can only be finished by a blind guess is just as bad, because the reader gets stuck and blames the book. Gridbinder runs a complete search for a second solution and throws the puzzle away if it finds one, then requires a step-by-step solver that uses only rules a person can apply to finish it too.

Books end with a Verification report (on unless you switch it off): each puzzle with its level and size, the number of solutions a complete search found, and, for every type with a step-by-step solver, how it finished the puzzle.

Book ideas: A large print Sudoku book for seniors, one grid per page; A progressive book that starts at Easy and ends at Challenge; A 100-puzzle Medium book for people who solve on the train.

How to solve, as printed in the book

Fill the grid so that every row, every column and every 3 x 3 box contains each number from 1 to 9 exactly once.

The bold numbers are given. Every puzzle has exactly one solution and can be solved by logic alone.

Easy9 x 9
Medium9 x 9
Hard9 x 9
Challenge9 x 9

Questions

What grid size does Gridbinder use for Sudoku?

All four levels use a 9 x 9 grid with 3 x 3 boxes. The levels differ in how much logic a puzzle needs, not in size.

What makes Hard and Challenge harder?

Easy and Medium puzzles can be finished with direct deductions. Hard and Challenge may also need a one-step what-if check: try one value and follow the forced moves until they contradict. It is never a blind guess, and the Verification report shows how many steps and what-if checks each puzzle took.

Can I make a large print Sudoku book?

Yes. Switch on Large print for bigger type and choose one puzzle per page, so each grid fills the page. The KDP trim sizes are 6 x 9, 8 x 10, 8.5 x 11 and A4.
